Data that has already been captured and stored by one of our data partners is called archive data. Archive data allows you to find information about the past state of your area of interest and monitor change over time.
Depending on whether data was captured on a specific day, archive data may or may not be available over your area of interest. If data is unavailable, try expanding your search parameters to other resolutions, a more tolerant cloud coverage, or allow for a wider date range.
1. Login into the EarthCache Console and click on Order Imagery.
2. Then click on Past .
3. Search your area of interest using the search bar by entering a Town/City/Country or coordinates.
You also have the option to draw a polygon directly onto the map using the Draw Polygon Button. If you have a KML/GeoJSON formatted polygon file, you can upload it by clicking the Upload a Polygon Button on the right. You can create a custom KML or GeoJSON using a GIS Platform, Google Earth, or https://geojson.io.
4. Once satisfied with your area of interest select the date range for the archive imagery.
5. Press search for the platform to return available imagery. Results that appear from the search are sorted based on area coverage, resolution, recency, and speed of retrieval. If no imagery was found, this will be due to a lack of archive data within selected dates for the area of interest. If there are no results please expand your date range.
6. Then click on the Filter to choose the Resolution of the imagery. If needed you can also set the percentage of the Area Coverage. The lower the coverage area will increase the probability of getting some imagery over your area of interest.
6. Press Apply.
7. Once you have the results returned, the image can be previewed by clicking on it.
8. If more information is needed about the image click on the "i" icon in the corner of the product.
9. There is also the ability to choose multiple products if the area of interest that you want coverage for, requires multiple images from several different dates.
Caution: Avoid selecting multiple products that have full coverage of the area, as this will yield only one image. To acquire several products that completely cover the area of interest for different dates, individual purchases are required.
10. Once you are ready to purchase the image, click on the Order Imagery button.
11. Then select the output file type you want for your order. If you are unsure of the output file you would like to select, review our support document here.
12. Once the output type has been selected click Purchase.
13. Press Confirm Purchase
14. Your order will be confirmed.
15. This will then create an archive order, which you can view in My Orders. Once results are available you can click on your order, view results, and download the imagery.
